#TeamHonk Digital Postcard from Ghana – BLOODY #GOODWORK

Today I received my digital postcard from Annie, penny, and T, the wonderful #teamhonk who were in Ghana last week doing #goodword for Comic Relief.

Before I talk about the image I wanted to explain how I came to be acquainted with these lovely ladies. I work in digital, and last October I was organising an event for a campaign centred on sleep. I’d worked previously with penny and was keen to get her involved as I knew she would create some awesome content for us. Sadly she was unable to come and so instead she recommended T and Annie. I’m not sure I will ever be able to forgive her for that, or for the Chablis hangover I had the morning after the event. Needless to say it was all the more fun for the ladies being there (as anyone who has spent time with them and a bottle of something will attest to) and resulted in the only image of me I have ever liked. (which you can see here)

I will admit to being slightly terrified before the event about sleeping over with ten bloggers. I think that stems from a very unnatural “us vs them” mentality that there often seems to be between bloggers and PR’s, but in reality it was a great night where I felt completely at ease, and I am left with a massive soft spot for all of them. Even more so now that they have ventured to Ghana to do some awesome stuff for comic relief.

I received an image from the Virtuous Women’s Bakery. I think baking and bake sales are my first real memories of Comic Relief. It seems to be a right of passage in every primary school that you all bring in something you’ve made, set up some little tables and sell the cakes to raise some much needed money. I used to love Comic Relief as a child because it gave everyone a chance to get involved, from chocolate rice crispy cakes to marmite swirls or French chocolate squares. Everyone would get stuck in and do their bit.

Annie says: “This photo was taken at the Virtuous Women’s Bakery! Having helped with the bread and having blown bubbles for the children to chase we stood for photos – not that you could tell but we were copying the teachers’ And pushhhhh!’ dance where you stick your bottom out in the air!” (This sounds VERY #TeamHonk)

You’ve done an amazing job for an amazing cause, and I’d urge everyone to get involved! Baking a cake and selling it at work or at the school gates (not in a creepy way of course) is so easy and the money will be going to truly worthy causes!

#TeamHonk I salute you!

This is a digital postcard sent from TeamHonk (www.mammasaurus.co.ukwww.aresidence.co.ukwww.mummybarrow.com ) during their travels with Comic Relief in Ghana celebrating #goodwork.
