A Very Quiet (drunken) Christmas

It’s been a funny old Christmas here in the sticks. In fact it hasn’t really felt like Christmas at all.

The OH works clearing tree’s from powerlines and, as you may be able to guess, the past week has been a bit hectic. So much so that he ended up working Christmas day, Boxing day, all the days in between and is now working all New Year. I won’t pretend I’m not gutted about it because, being our first ever Christmas in our own home, I really really am. It’s also our anniversary today so him being at work and not even being able to celebrate tonight is pretty gutting.

That aside though I have enjoyed having some time off to myself. Work has been a little less than fun over the past few months so it’s been nice to take a bit of a breather. We also had our work Christmas party a couple of weeks back which was…interesting.

It was a 1920’s Speakeasy/Great Gatsby style party. I’m not a big dress wearer (especially since putting on about 50 million stone over the past 2 years) so I opted for more of a Marlene Dietrich look. Wide leg trousers, silk blouse, plenty of bling! I don’t really have many photo’s of the full look but here’s one that was for some reason taken in the toilets (after a few too many winter pimms!)

1920s style imageOK…so it’s an awful image (complete with toilet paper on the floor) and I do NOT photo well, but you get the gist!

I managed to find the black wide leg trousers in New Look (you would not believe how long it took me to find something wide legged now that everything is all about skinny jeans and trousers!). The blouse I got from Primark as well as some of the accessories and the lovely sparkly bag and belt that I have on were sent from the lovely range of bags and accessories at New Look. They also sent me this big statement necklace which wasn’t quite right for the 1920’s look but will be perfect for my next client meeting so I’ll add some piccies of it soon!

The party was good but I had one too many drinkies (and dreaded jager bombs with the CEO) and ended up crying on a bench to a director. By Monday morning I had handed notice! That’s not even a joke, but at least I looked kinda cool right? RIGHT?

So there’s my Christmas. A bit drunken. A bit lonely. But doing it with some nice new accessories.

Can’t be all bad, right?

Hope you all had a fab Christmas and have a very Happy New Year!

Disclosure – The lovely guys at New Look sent me the sparkly party accessories that I have featured here. All other items were paid for by my dreaded overdraft! Bloody fancy dress parties eh!
